Background issue

Following an expedient internal promotion, the managing director of this major international pump business realised that his new appointee needed support in the area of operations strategy. Components intended for original equipment were being diverted to urgent spare part requirements and consequently customer service levels were falling dramatically.

The task of Firth Interim Management was to rapidly analyse the manufacturing function of the business and to propose and implement solutions.

Results

Through personal coaching and mentoring of the newly promoted manager and by working with his team, control of the function was rapidly reasserted. The strategic separation of original equipment assembly from spares and parts manufacture dramatically improved customer service and internal morale.

Following the assignment, the promoted manager went on to make a success of his new role.
